Foolin' around, Foolin' around...

My sweet Grandma and Grandpa Olsen are snow birds. They flee to the south, Yuma, Arizona, every January. They stay there for about 2 1/2 months. I'll post more about this later.
While they are relaxing by the pool, we are doing a little remodeling job for them. We are ripping out the carpet in the kitchen and replacing it with tile. My sweet Lew, a jack of all trades, has tiled our kitchen and basement bathroom. Scuba Jean (Cassi's husband -Scott), fellow handy-man, has tiled his kitchen as well. So they are the main go-to guys for this project.
We started yesterday and pulled up the carpet. They don't build houses like they use to. And that is a dang good thing! The floor had a layer of carpet, pad, weird linoleum tile, some black fabric and then the tongue in grove boards. The boards are so old. When you walk on them, it moves. It has the natural holes in them as well. So you can see into the cellar under their house. Zane thought this was fantastic! He found about 20 marbles and dropped them in the little holes when he didn't think I was looking.
We went back to Janice and Glen's house tonight to work on the floor some more. Janice and Glen are my grand parents. We had to get a special skill saw blade to put on Lew's grinder. Then he could cut the floor under the cupboards. Easy, fast, Dangerous!
This is Lew's glove. This is the blade.

This is Lew's knuckle. He was cutting the floor and the blade caught on a piece of wood and it came back and hit his hand. It nicked his pinkie finger but that was not too bad. Lew has the speed of a vampire. He got cut and was able to jump up and unplug the thing before any of us knew what had happened. We knew something was up because there were a few cuss words that slipped out. I hate it when Lew gets hurt. It makes my stomach hurt.
Here is the weak floor. See the base of the cupboards? Whoops, don't tell Janice and Glen!
We searched for a first aid kit. This is what we found. Um, it's about 45 years old. Lucky for us, Scott is a captain on the Emergency Response Team at Kennecott. He ran to his house and fixed Lew right up! Thanks Scuba! And Happy Birthday tomorrow!!
Whenever Lewis gets injured he will call his dad to tell him. His dad will always say, Foolin' around, foolin' around...
Just wait until this floor is done! It's fun to do these projects, especially if you have insurance.

That was a great post Amber. I agree with the girl above...you take fabulous pics and your narrating is awesome too. Poor Lewis. How great though, that you & Cass both have such handymen as husbands. Good Luck. Make sure you post pics of the finished product. Love ya.

Hey your adorable! I almost cut my finger off the same way! I was putting up crown molding. When I was cutting a tiny piece the blade ripped it out of my hand and jerked my hand into the blade. Luckily it just tore a chunk of skin. So fun to see you!
